web design services SOA Principles of Service Design bachelorette party invitation

web design services SOA Principles of Service Design
SOA+Principles+of+Service+Design

“This book could be described as an encyclopedia of service designâ€"Erl leaves nothing to chance. Indispensable.” â€"Steve Birkel, Chief IT Technical Architect, Intel Corp.   “An absolute pleasure to read…the best SOA book I’ve read. A book I would recommend to all of my colleagues; it provides much insight to the topics often overlooked by most books in this genre…the visuals were fantastic.” â€"Brandon Bohling, SOA Architecture and Strategy, Intel Corporation   “This book is a milestone in SOA literature. For the first time we are provided with a practical guide on defining service characteristics and service design principles for SOA from a vendor-agnostic viewpoint. It’s a great reference for SOA discovery, adoptions, and implementation projects.” â€"Canyang Kevin Liu, Principal Enterprise Architect, SAP Americas, Inc.   “I liked this book. It contains extremely important material for those who need to design services.” â€"Farzin Yashar, IBM SOA Advanced Technologies   “This book does a great job laying out benefits, key ideas and design principles behind successfully adopting service-oriented computing. At the same time, the book openly addresses challenges, risks and trade-offs that are in the way of adopting SOA in the real-world today. It moves away from ivory-tower views of service orientation, but still lays out a strong vision for SOA and outlines the changes necessary to realize the full potential.” â€"Christoph Schittko, Senior Architect, Microsoft   “I recommend this book to any SOA practitioner who wishes to empower themselves in making service design real…gives readers the 360º view into service design [and] gives SOA practitioners the depth and understanding needed into the principles of SOA to assist in the design of a mature and successful SOA program.” â€"Stephen G. Bennett, Americas SOA Practice Lead, BEA Systems   “SOA projects are most successful when they are based on a solid technical foundation. Well accepted and established design principles are part of this foundation. This book takes a very structured approach at defining the core design principles for SOA, thus allowing the reader to immediately applying them to a project. Each principle is formally introduced and explained, and examples are given for how to apply it to a real design problem. A ‘must read’ for any architect, designer or developer of service oriented solutions”. â€"Andre Tost, Senior Technical Staff Member, IBM Software Group   “There are few references for SOA that give you the nuts and bolts and this one is at the top of the list. Well written and valuable as a reference book to any SOA practitioner.” â€"Dr. Mohamad Afshar, Director of Product Management, Oracle Fusion Middleware, Oracle Corporation   “A thorough examination of the considerations of service design. Both seasoned SOA practitioners and those endeavoring to realize services can benefit from reading this book.” â€"Bill Draven, Enterprise Architect, Intel Corporation   “There are very few who understand SOA like Thomas Erl does! The principle centric description of service orientation from Thomas canonizes the underpinnings of this important paradigm shift in creating agile and reusable software capabilities. The principles, so eloquently explained, leave little room for any ambiguity attached to the greater purpose of SOA. Most organizations today are creating services in a bottoms-up approach, realizing composition and reuse organically. The time is ripe for a book like this that prepares architects for a principle centric approach to SOA.” â€"Hanu Kommalapati, Architect, Microsoft Corporation   “Outstanding SOA literature uniquely focused on the fundamental services design with thorough and in-depth study on all practical aspects from design principles to methodologies. This book provides a systematic approach for SOA adoption essential for both IT management and professionals.” â€"Robin Chen, PhD, Google, Inc.   “Thomas Erl’s books are always densely filled with information that’s well structured. This book is especially insightful for Enterprise Architects because it provide s great context and practical examples. Part 1 of the book alone is worth getting the book for.” â€"Markus Zirn, Senior Director, Product Management, Oracle Fusion Middleware, Oracle Corporation   “A very clear discussion of the subject matter. Provides a good structure that facilitates understanding and readily highlights key points.” â€"Kareem Yusuf, Director of SOA Strategy and Planning, IBM Software Group   “I am very impressed. Comprehensive. Educative. This book helped me to step back and look at the SOA principles from broader perspective. I’d say this is a must-read book for SOA stakeholders.” â€"Radovan Janecek, Director R&D, SOA Center, Hewlett-Packard   “Very valuable guidance for understanding and applying SOA service design principles with concrete examples. A must read for the practitioner of SOA service design.” â€"Umit Yalcinalp, PhD, Standards Architect, SAP   “This book really does an excellent job of explaining the principles underpinning the value of SOA…Erl goes to great length to explain and give examples of each of the 8 principles that will significantly increase the readers ability to drive an SOA service design that benefits both business and IT.” â€"Robert Laird, IT Architect, IBM EAI/SOA Advanced Technologies Group   “This book strikes a healthy balance between theory and practice. It is a perfect complement to the SOA series by the author.” â€"Prakash Narayan, Sun Microsystems   “If you are going to be designing, developing, or implementing SOA, this is a must have book.” â€"Jason “AJ” Comfort Sr., Booz Allen Hamilton   “An excellent book for anyone who wants to understand service-orientation and the principles involved in designing services…a clear, concise and articulate exploration of the eight design principles involved in analyzing, designing, implementing, and maintaining services…” â€"Anish Karmarkar, Oracle Corporation   “Very well written, succinct, and easy to understand.” â€"Raj Balasubramanian, IBM Software Group   “Acomprehensive exploration of the issues of service design which has the potential to become the definitive work in this area.” â€"James Pasley, Chief Technology Officer, Cape Clear Software   “An excellent addition to any SOA library; it covers a wide range of issues in enough detail to be a valuable asset to anyone considering designing or using SOA based technologies.” â€"Mark Little, Director of Standards, Red Hat   “This book communicates complex concepts in a clear and concise manner. Examples and illustrations are used very effectively.” â€"Darryl Hogan, Senior Architect, Microsoft   “A work of genius…Offers the most comprehensive and thorough explanation on the principles of service design and what it means to be ‘service oriented.’ “Erl’s treatment of the complex world of service oriented architecture is pragmatic, inclusive of real world situations and offers readers ways to communicate these ideas through illustrations and well formulated processes.” â€"David Michalowicz, MITRE Corporation   “This is the book for the large organization trying to rationalize its IT assets and establish an agile platform for the future. The ultimate goal of life is to achieve happiness, and the way to achieve happiness is to buy stuff. So says The Sims, a game that lets you create, direct, and manage the lives of SimCity\'s residents. The game begins with the creation of your simulated people: pick a name and a gender, decide on personality/astrological sign, and then choose a look from a variety of heads, bodies, and skin tones. Name, gender, and appearance don\'t affect gameplay much, but personality determines how your Sim plays with others. A serious, neat Sim might go crazy living with a sloppy party animal--or opposites might attract, and the two could end up falling in love. After creation, the next step is to find a place to live. Again, the player can choose from among the empty houses in the neighborhood or decide to buy some land and design a dream house. Building houses is a blast, and the easy-to-use house design interface could almost be its own game: players design the floor plan, put up walls, pick carpet, wallpaper, and siding, and fill the house with furniture, decorations, fixtures, and appliances. You\'re limited only by your imagination--and your Sims\' pocketbook. But the choices you make in designing and decorating your Sims\' house are vital. A good general rule is that the more expensive the object, the better its ability to satisfy Sim needs. Each little Sim person has needs (Hunger, Comfort, Hygiene, Bladder, Energy, Fun, Social, and Room) which can be satisfied by interaction with other Sims or purchased objects: throw a party with the help of a rockin\' stereo system, and watch your Sims\' Social and Fun ratings improve. Have one of your Sims whip up some food from the refrigerator, and you\'ll satisfy the Hunger needs of your guests. Or have your Sim engage another Sim in a game of chess: not only will their Fun and Social moods improve, both Sims will gain some points in their Logic skill rating--which might help on the job. One gameplay goal is to improve your Sim so he or she can climb a career ladder, which nets him or her more money, which allows the purchase of higher quality stuff, which lets you improve your Sim even more. With proper care, your Sim can have a mate, kids, and a mansion with an indoor pool. Mismanage your new, simulated family, and you\'ll be faced with the worst of MTV\'s The Real World: jealousies will ignite, fights will break out, jobs will be lost, and the house will fall apart. Bringing about such a calamity is almost as much fun as guiding your Sims to material paradise, and takes considerably less time. Triumph or tragedy, each significant event in a Sim\'s life is captured in a snapshot and saved in a photo album for later viewing. Players can also take photos any time they wish. The photo album feature is cool by itself, but the best part is that you can upload the album to www.thesims.com and share your Sims\' sagas with the world. Entire families can also be uploaded and downloaded, as can houses. Want to re-create and manage your own version of Friends? Download the free face and body editor and make Sim clones of the Ross, Rachel, and the rest. Want to perfectly re-create the set? Snag the free wall and floor texture editor. Feeling a little silly? Add Darth Vader to the family and see what happens. With The Sims, you can create whatever--and whomever--you desire. Toying with the lives, successes, and emotional states of dozens of little Sims is undeniably fun. In the same way that SimCity players develop a condescending attitude toward real-world city planners, The Sims players will begin to see life as a series of needs-satisfying challenges; the game gets in your head. But that\'s OK: limitless gameplay, endless variety, imaginative Internet features, and the ability to play matchmaker/landlord/counselor/God makes The Sims a great way to increase your own Fun score. --Mike Fehlauer Pros: Unique, addictive, fun gameplay Included photo album feature records triumphs and tragedies Free uploads and downloads expand the game and allow swapping with other players Sims are smart--it\'s sometimes best to just let them act on their own Cons: Addictive gameplay may cause loss of sleep, job Complex behavioral modeling program--requires serious computing power No pets other than fish Sex and aliens. That\'s really all that was missing from the amazing original edition of The Sims, and the expansion Livin\' Large delivers these new treats to liven up your beloved Sims existence. New characters (including a gladiator and Xena-like warriors), and, more impressively, new decorations are the reasons to buy this game. The furnishings are mostly grouped by theme, with the medieval dungeon option the most authoritative of the bunch. (Little Cassandra Goth has been longing to read by torch light all along.) Our personal favorite is the futuristic theme, with an optional, but expensive, maid/gardener robot to take care of the fabulous modern furnishings. Clearly the Sims team has been doing its research over at Herman Miller, and you\'ll have a bright red, flowing-foam sofa to show for it. But it wouldn\'t be The Sims if only good taste prevailed. Bring on the mai tais with a tiki-heavy islander theme. There\'s also a startling collection of carpeting and objects best grouped under the design ideal we call \"demented clown.\" The attention-getting rarities include: a lame fortune-telling ball (our advice mostly centered around hiring a maid), a voodoo doll for hexing roommates, and a genie who delivers as much bad as good (dead plants, anyone?). And, yes, there\'s a vibrating bed to give your Sims the spice they\'ve been missing. While the expansion didn\'t blow us away, it did provide more of the humor and novelty true Sims die-hards will appreciate. With even more attention to detail than the original offering, EA deserves Sims-like applause for this edition. --Jennifer Buckendorff
